Stone Brian Fortson As a Curriculum Developer and Instructional Systems Designer (ISD), Brian applies his knowledge of adult education theories, methods, techniques, computer-assisted learning technology, as well as Instructional Systems Design (ISD) and Systems Approach to Training (SAT) methodologies. Brian is in the midst of a comprehensive curriculum review of training provided to a variety of employees, uniformed domestic and foreign military, civilian Department of Defense and intelligence professionals, and representatives of other U.S. federal government agencies. For this assignment, Brian reviews course materials and, as needed, revises and reorganizes them to instill a more solid instructional approach and consistency across instructors. In this project, Brian conducts training needs analysis, participates in working groups, obtains materials from subject matter experts (SMEs) in the field, designs student guides and instructional methods/presentations, and coordinates with a highly cross-functional multimedia and editing team to modernize all course materials. Prior to joining DLS, Brian was an Operations Training Developer at the 303rd Intelligence Squadron (US Air Force) in the Republic of Korea, where he proposed, repurposed, and implemented initial qualification training courses for over 150 cryptological linguists, decreasing training time by more than 30 days, while raising the success rate of from 65 percent to 100 percent. Brian also developed individually tailored training plans for personnel with demonstrated training deficiencies, resulting in an overall success rate of 100 percent. He also led cross-functional process management teams for the Operations Division Naval Forces training program to re-design cryptological linguist training courses, job qualification standards, and evaluations. An expert in the area of evaluation, Brian reconstructed his squadron's evaluation programs to bring them into compliance with new guidelines. In doing so, he completely re-wrote evaluations and training materials with the input of subject-matter experts to produce new tests, test banks, and master question files. As a cryptological linguist at the 303rd Intelligence Squadron, Brian provided Indications & Warning (I&W) direct tactical support to U.S. forces in accordance with national intelligence requirements. He provided threat-warning support during Joint Chiefs of Staff-directed reconnaissance missions, ensuring safety of U.S. and Allied aircrews and aircraft. |
